Fresh and up-to-the-minute governmental article. Is President Obama Doing Everything He Can to Save the Economy?
While it may seem that that President Obama is doing everything he can to save the economy, create more jobs, and put more strength into the world’s hope for the future, both Democrats and Republicans on both sides of the aisle are getting nervous about the actions that Obama has taken and will be taking in the near future. One has to question whether Obama is doing enough for the economy. Let’s face it – our own President and others have said that this is the greatest economic crisis since the Great Depression. If that is really true, are the steps that Obama’s administration taking genuinely enough to save the economy? Let’s take a look!
The $787 Billion Roadmap
Obama’s $787 billion stimulus package was passed just weeks after his inauguration on January 20, 2009. This stimulus package was designed for shovel-ready jobs, for economic growth, and it was touted as a necessary package that was going to save or create 3 to 4 million jobs in the United States.
However, more than nine months later Democrats and others are becoming increasingly skeptical about this original package. For example, Democratic representative Earl Pomeroy from North Dakota is quoted as saying concerning the large stimulus package: “I mean, if we were to take a vote this afternoon, the stimulus package would probably fail.”
On the other hand, many in the party still hold out hopes that the $787 billion package will eventually achieve the results that are needed to save the economy.
Budget Proposals and Changes
Other formidable steps that Obama and his administration are taking in order to save the economy include getting healthcare costs under control and changing the way things are done in that sector as well as opening the door to more sustainable sources of energy.
Creating green jobs and improving the healthcare system are two fundamental changes that President Obama is trying to make. While it may seem like those two issues are going no where, if things go as planned especially with the creation of Green technology and jobs, things may just turn around for the large part of the economic downturn.
White House Talk
There is certainly no magic fix for the economy as the White House and the Obama administration is ready to admit. While some members of congress are trying to figure out whether another stimulus package needs to be passed, President Obama has not settled on that step yet. He and his administration concur that his original plans that were set out in the $787 stimulus package need time to work.
On another opposing side, however, one has to wonder if President Obama has truly done all he can to save the economy. Perhaps one of the reasons that his multi-billion stimulus package has not taken effect just yet is because the majority of the money in that stimulus bill will not be spent for another 2-3 years. If President Obama wants to save the economy quickly, solid actions need to be considered that will create jobs faster and ultimately put the U.S. back on the path to economic success.
Well what do you think about that one. It surely was an absorbing take on the up-to-date goings on in the area of politics
